LILA ROSE - HEART MACHINE - CD RELEASE PARTY !
This winter, Lila will release her debut, full-length album, Heart Machine, which she co-produced with David Earl (aka SFLogicNinja.) Shaping up to be a masterpiece of sound, song craft and technology, Heart Machine bends the genres of Electronica, Indie pop, trip-hop and alternative rock around an emotional core, finding a critical musical mass that is explosive in its intensity and brilliant in its light. Lila writes from the well of her experiences, building on the pain of human existence to create songs that speak to the human heart. Out of each shadow she culls light, uplifting, inspiring, and offering hope in lieu of even the greatest challenges of the heart, soul and mind.
The singer/songwriter now makes her home in Berkeley, a perfect backdrop for her quirky and unusual style. While Lila writes within the boundaries of classic pop song structure, her songs could be called anything but traditional. Lila’s voice is difficult to describe, but imagine a triangle formed by the smoky alto of Fiona Apple, the gritty edge of Ani Difranco and the pure tone of Adele and put Lila right in the middle. You simply have to hear her voice to believe it, and she sings with such intensity it’s breathtaking. On stage, Lila is a tour de force; you can’t help but get caught up in her pop star mystique. Away from the stage she exudes a grace and humility that’s stunning. Lila isn’t simply enchanting; she engages those around her on a personal level that is unusual in a society built on thirty second attention spans. Lila is honest, accessible and full of an integrity that is not expected in popular culture. If you were to sit next to her on a bus you’d never dream she was a pop star; but you might think you’d just met the sweetest person in the world.

Sidecar Tommy (of Beats Antique)

TOMMY CAPPEL, AKA SIDECAR TOMMY is beatmaker, drummer, and co-producer of electro-gypsy trio known as BEATS ANTIQUE...Drawing from many genres of live and electronic music, SIDECAR TOMMY creates music that brings the dirtier beats to the forefront. Using his 27 years of experience as a drummer (bands include Yard Dogs Road Show, Extra Action Marching Band, Eenormus Sidecar, Crash Worship, Breakfast, Mark Growden's Electric Pinata) fusing with state of the art production tools, the original score is vast, raw, and properly sculpted for sound systems big or small, culminating in a collage of music that hits hard with original beats...
Mortar & Pestle

Mortar and Pestle formed three years ago in Oakland, California with members Janaysa Lambert (vocals) and Paul Shinichi (keyboard) playing together after hearing each other at a friends warehouse party. Realizing they had something special, they soon recruited Sean Paul Duke (drums). Painting with melodies , singing with story , their refinement captures raw emotion and vulnerability, while maintaining an unmistakable power and might.
Mortar and Pestle's unique blend of soul, rock, pop, and dance is influenced by a wide range of genres and artists including: Radiohead, Mercury Program, Phantogram, Little Dragon, Bonobo, and Stereolab. Their sound carries the beauty and nature of the redwoods, ocean, and mountains surrounding them in the Bay Area , but delivers a knock out punch from the brick , grit , and smoke that is Oakland.
